Drogon
Drogo is the biggest and most aggressive of the three dragons that are owned by Daenerys Targaryen. It is named after Daenerys’ husband, Khal Drogo and its colors are black and red. Out of all the dragons, Dragon is the most independent and less dependent on the others. It is also the most headstrong.
In the HBO show, Drogon plays the biggest role out of the three brothers. It ends up burning down the Iron Throne after the death of Daenerys.
Rhaegal
It is named after Daenerys’ brother, Rhaegar Targaryen and its colors are green and bronze. During the books, Ser Barristan Selmy notes that he thinks Rheagel is more aggressive than his brother, Viserion.
In the HBO show, Jon Snow (aka Aegon Targaryen) ends up riding Rhaegal. It ends up getting killed by a scorpion bolt that was fired from Euron Greyjoy’s ship.
Viserion
It is named after Daenerys’ brother, Viserys Targaryen and its colors are cream and gold. Throughout the books, Daenerys’ refers to Viserion as being lazy. Based on this, we can assume that Viserion is the most laid-back and of the three.
In the HBO show, Viserion is killed by the Night King and ends up becoming an ice dragon.
